For too long, the process for selling outdated and damaged houses has been terrible for sellers. Local property investors capitalize on homeowner distress to purchase houses cheap and resell them for huge profits.
Sundae is putting more of those profits back in the hands of the homeowner. With scale and efficiency, we're able to redistribute economic value to sellers in the form of the most competitive price so that Sundae can become the largest buyer of homes that need love in the United States.
We have deep domain expertise: our founders include the ex-CFO of Airbnb and executives from LendingHome. We raised a large seed from investors such as Founders Fund and late stage venture firms DST Capital and Greenoaks Capital, who do not normally participate this early but see Sundae as a compelling opportunity.
We've achieved product market fit and are growing quickly. We are revenue generating and aggressively expanding to new markets.
While we have a strong ops, sales and marketing team, we are now building out a world class product and eng team. The first engineer hires will be incredibly impactful to the company and have an outsized role in shaping our technical decisions and services.
The distressed real estate industry is rife with people who take advantage of homeowners in their time of need.
We are currently building, so you will have a strong hand in shaping our eng culture! We are still small and nimble enough that we don’t need a ton of process. Engineers would work really closely with our product, sales, operations and marketing teams to scope projects and start building micro-services around product needs.
Property investors require a myriad services to complete a transaction: title, escrow, property insurance, bridge and rental loans, and resale brokerage. Traditionally, this entire process is done manually (think paper contracts over fax). There are a few startups that have digitized the process. Initially Sundae will integrate with these providers. Later, at sufficient scale, Sundae will build some of these in-house.
One area we are prioritizing in the near term (12 months) is supporting marketing/lead generation efforts. We want to use data to intelligently target high-intent prospects and manage pipelines efficiently at scale in a way that incorporates this data.
Distressed homes marketplace Buying damaged and outdated properties is the first of many products Sundae will offer. We will be a marketplace for a variety of unique, non-traditional ways to monetize a house.
