Empowerly (empowerly.com) is a platform for personalized college and career guidance. Our mission is to empower students to become the most successful version of themselves, get accepted to their top choice colleges, and solidify their career trajectories.

Many members of Empowerly's full time team, including the founders, still use the platform to mentor students today and are deeply driven by the mission to empower students to become the most successful version of themselves.

  • Empowerly's core product is helping 9th-12th graders get into their top choice schools, but we are rapidly expanding into adjacencies. Our platform now supports internship and career guidance for college students as well as an internal recruiting system that matches students to startups, and a research mentorship program for students who want to pursue academia. We are also piloting a program to mentor students with ADHD and autism who want to go to college.

Our engineer works closely with each team member on an individual level, discussing ideas and leveraging different viewpoints across business development, marketing, and production divisions. We are result oriented and dedicated to bringing premium services to our customers. Work environment and working hours are extremely flexible. Most software decisions are entirely at the discretion of the engineer.

Technical Challenges

As a full stack web developer, an engineer at Empowerly must understand and utilize a variety of tools to address issues in database management, automated client processes, and providing a streamlined user interface. We are in hypergrowth and always have a variety of projects that must be deployed to meet customer and internal needs.

  • We built the Empowerly Score, the only real-time diagnostic solution using a three-pronged holistic evaluation system to predict college admission chances. Using predictive models and guidance from former admissions officers, the Empowerly Score measures and monitors a three-pronged evaluation of academics, extracurriculars, and written essays. It determines the impact of every key factor included in an individual's college application to assess applicant competitiveness for top U.S. colleges.
