Our engineering team works closely with our user engagement and data science teams to build well-rounded features that resonate with our users. We start our feature development process with a meeting where we refer to our priority list and choose the features that fit where our current needs are. Depending on the nature of the feature, we engage designers to start on mockups while the engineers think through the nuts and bolts of the feature. Along with designing the backend of the feature, our engineers consult our data science team to think through any needs that the data science team would head. Once tasks are delegated and design mockups are finished, the engineering team starts development on the feature which involves pushing code to a Git development branch. Once the feature is stable, it is then pushed to a testing server where it goes through two rounds of user testing and any issues are logged and prioritized. After high priority issues are fixed the feature is pushed to our production server.

Our application stores and processes a large amount of data which makes for a lot of optimization problems to solve. An example is our website tracking software that handles hundreds of requests per second where each request needs to execute in less than a second.
