Why join us?

  • Our Engineers work with unique and exciting scaling challenges. Our clients' user bases require petabyte-scale backends and well-built SDKs. Billions of events every day running on hundreds of millions of devices. Work with an amazing team that is pursuing the unique challenges that face a rich customer experience platform.

  • The culture. We see ourselves as the anti-startup. We don’t have a foosball table or beer on tap (we do have a ping pong table, though). We don’t glamorize overworking. We understand that we’re a team, not a family. We understand our employees have a life outside of work and we make sure our employees make use of our generous vacation policy to take time off for themselves and spend more time with their loved ones. This is critical to be able to refresh and do the best work of their careers here at Taplytics.

  • We're a Y Combinator company backed by some of the most prominent investors and engineers of Silicon Valley such as Justin Kan (Founder of Twitch), Alexis Ohanian (Founder of Reddit), Garry Tan (Partner at YC), and more. We help modern product development teams safely deploy their code faster to increase their ROI on the features they release. By Developers for Developers, we're designing the future of software development where our engineering team builds solutions that they want to use for themselves and solves a problem in the space they understand well!

  • We work with some fantastic and fast-growing clients! Be at the core of what powers the product strategy for the likes of RBC, Crate&Barrel, Grubhub, Lookout, Warby Parker, and many more.

  • We doubled our team size and tripled our revenue in 2019! Though that wasn’t the case for 2020 due to the pandemic, we have since picked up steam and are hoping to ride that wave into the future as we continue the growth of Taplytics. We operate the business rationally with enterprise customers who choose to buy our product over bigger names in the software industry like Adobe and Salesforce. Our SDK has been deployed into billions of devices globally - chances are, you probably already have our technology installed in your phone!

Engineering at Taplytics

Engineering team and processes

Our engineering team is broken into three core groups, including frontend, backend, and infrastructure. Cross-functional feature teams are then constructed from these core groups based on product goals and disbanded once those goals are complete. We believe in the autonomy of our feature teams, which means that each team has full say in how it reaches its goals, so long as the described user value of the product goal is met. We’re driven to be an elite engineering team, and drive our progress towards that goal by tracking DORA metrics, using our own feature flags, writing automated tests, and deploying continuously. Finally, we believe in continuous improvement of not just our product but our process, and welcome feedback and suggestions from our team.

Technical Challenges

Our clients' user bases require petabyte-scale backends and well-built SDKs. Our platform processes millions of transactions per minute, delivering experiences to billions of devices globally. Chances are, you probably already have our technology in your phone right now. You will be part of an amazing team that uses the latest technologies to tackle unique challenges that face a rich customer experience platform.

Projects you might work on
  • Our visual web editor allows product teams to visually modify their websites and applications without touching a line of code. Under the hood it’s a chrome extension that runs React and Redux.

  • We have a series of SDKs and APIs that serve segmentation and bucketing of experiments at the edge, offering < 50ms response times for our clients no matter what amount of traffic they’re sending us. We built these using Cloudflare Workers and their V8 isolate runtimes.

  • Currently in private beta, DevCycle is a whole new approach to feature flags and feature management. This is a greenfield codebase built upon NextJS, ReactQuery, TailwindCSS on the frontend, and NestJS, Mongo, Kafka and Cloudflare Workers on the backend. We’re following continuous deployment with this product, and measuring our performance with Four Keys metrics.

Working at Taplytics

We pride ourselves on having an open, collaborative culture of passionate and focused team members who have fun while doing the best work of their careers. We have a product & engineering-driven culture with three of our co-founders coming from an Engineering background. Engineering is the largest team, making up almost 50% of our organization. Our engineering leadership team has created an atmosphere where they can create really cool stuff instead of just maintaining legacy systems. Moreover, you’re building them for really cool companies.

We also have a strong culture of learning. On top of our educational credit program, where we cover 90% of the cost for employees to upskill outside of work, the engineering department also hosts bi-weekly engineering lunch & learn and weekly company-wide engineering demo happy hours.

Work-life balance.

Diversity and Inclusion

We understand how diverse experiences can positively impact the product and service we deliver to our customers. At Taplytics, we continuously recruit with diversity in mind. Our current candidate pipeline demographic consists of 43% coming from the underrepresented group. Currently, our engineering team consists of 30% women and 60% identified as coming from underrepresented groups.

We also believe diversity starts from the bottom up. We have a mandate in making sure our co-op program consists of 50% female engineers and has a structured mentorship program in place to support more junior employees with upskilling their SWE experience.

  • Employee surveys twice a year to gauge how people are feeling and develop action items.
  • Parental leave top-up for new parents = Healthy benefits package starting from day one so our employees are able to take advantage right away.
  • By hiring not just based on strong technical aptitude but also putting equal consideration on culture fit. We strive to create a supportive work culture where employees come in with a friendly attitude and openness to help their employees or peers in need.
  • Weekly 1:1 session with your manager
  • Regular salary reviews to ensure compensation equity based on performance, not tenure or how vocal someone is.

We offer an educational program for our employees to utilize so they can continue to level up their skill sets outside of what they are already learning on the job.

We have also developed a mentorship program for engineers that have been effective in getting them onboarded in their role. Check out an article by one of our Staff Engineers on how he helped support new engineers with their career growth through the mentorship program he has developed.

All of our employees have weekly structured 1:1s with their manager to address roadblocks and career growth. Pay equity is something we take seriously. We review salaries quarterly to ensure our employees are compensated fairly.
