We’re in a period of explosive growth and have dozens of exciting job opportunities available right now at our San Francisco headquarters as well as in New York, London, and Austin.
It's an exciting time at TaskRabbit right now. In the last few months, we became profitable, got acquired by IKEA, and now we are expanding the team to continue changing how work gets done around the world.
We're still a small, scrappy 'startup' but now have the resources of a global retailer whose mission is in sustainability, creating better lives for people and giving back to communities. We have doubled in size in the past 8 months, and this is only the beginning. This is the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of something huge, as we plan to 11X in the next few years.
Diversity and inclusion are critical to our success. We understand the importance and value in having a variety of people, thoughts and ideas within our company. Women comprise approximately 54% of staff and leadership positions, and approximately 38% of our staff identify as African-American/Black, Hispanic/Latinx, Asian/Pacific Islander and LGBTQ.
We use React.js on the frontend, and Rails on the backend. We're looking for people that still love Rails or at least can admit that it’s a very effective way to build great things. If you are interested in React, that’s even better.
A company tends to reflect it's mission. We were started with a mission for neighbors to help neighbors. So it's not too surprising that we have a very collaborative culture. This isn't a company where engineers get a backlog of things to build like a code monkey. Everyone - engineers, designers, customer support, product managers - are part of that process because good ideas come from everywhere. From there, we combine those good ideas with the goals we are trying to achieve and come up with a target of what we're going to do. Then there is a kickoff and design session, usually attended by a tech lead, designer, and product manager, along with other stakeholders. From this comes an epic and a set of stories. We use Pivotal Tracker. From there, it's the typical generic Silicon Valley agile process. Two-week sprints, retro, etc.
We value those who are empathetic, those who cultivate curiosity, those who navigate through ambiguity, and those who value entrepreneurship!
