Role Description

TechStyleOS is looking for a Sr. Data Analyst to join our team.

How Do You Fit In? 

As the Sr. Analyst on the Central Data Platforms team, you will be supporting the FP&A function. This is a high visibility internal client facing role that requires you to be self-directed, highly analytical and technically savvy. You will be responsible for augmenting and maintaining core financial reports from the Snowflake EDW.

In addition, you will be partnering with our entire Data Analytics organization and cross functional product and technical teams to ensure that our data is accurate. You will also be working with FP&A business users to facilitate understanding of the data and business insights. The right candidate would be detail-oriented, incredibly curious, and technically capable with a deep desire to become expert in TechStyle's various ecommerce production systems, financial systems and most importantly our EDW(Snowflake). This role is critical to keep data flowing seamlessly to fuel our data-driven culture.

This position will report to the Director, Data Platforms. This position will be based in El Segundo, California.


(50%) You will have end to end ownership of the Daily Cash, Weekly KPI financial reports and the analytical tables that drive these. Specifically, you will:
Define, instrument, name and maintain new and existing business KPIs. Must be able to make changes to the business logic (SQL based) as and when necessary and drive necessary changes to underlying EDW fact and dimension tables when upstream database objects change or changes requested by the business Monitor report schedules and communicate causes of delays to stakeholders
Setup the necessary intelligent alerts such that you are able to notify stakeholders of data integrity issues or state changes to KPIs proactively
Work with our offshore team members to ensure that we have 24/7 coverage of worldwide reports

(10%) Collaborate and align with members at all levels of the FP&A organization to drive the roadmap of the Daily Cash and Weekly KPI analytics products on an ongoing basis

(30%) Collaborate with members of the Data platforms, FP&A and Brand Analytics leads for successful delivery of key initiatives:
Participate in or lead brainstorming/whiteboarding sessions with the team for complex data analytics problems and other decisions that require team input Participate in the Data Platforms team’s agile process in the capacity of an individual contributor or analytics project lead (if applicable)
Utilize GIT for collaborative SQL development, peer review and deployment to production

(10%) Documentation:
Translate business requirements into technical requirements using best-in-class tools and methods like pseudo-code, control flow charts, entity relationship diagrams, process flows, system architecture diagrams/topologies etc. Maintain technical documentation in Confluence and other highly detailed EDW/reporting documentation in the Data Catalog

Required Skills:

B.A./B.S. in STEM field preferred

Must possess exceptional quantitative, analytical, critical thinking and communication skills

Must be self-directed and be able to thrive in a and quick turn-around working environment

Expert SQL skills, particularly in an analytics / reporting capacity.

Significant experience creating and maintaining DW and reporting processes

Advanced Data modeling skills (hands-on experience + theoretical understanding) including Implementing star-schemas/snowflake-schemas and Slowly changing dimensions

Advanced SQL skills required: Primary/foreign keys, indexes (when to use them), Joins and unions , Tables and Views (How are they different? Pros and cons of using), Be able to describe differences between DML/DDL statements, Window functions, Scalar and aggregate functions

Experience with accounting and finance reporting processes including audits.

Advanced skills in MS Excel, including Pivot tables & Advanced formulae (V-lookup/H-Lookup, Index, match, etc.)

Demonstrated ability to pick up new data visualization tools – direct experience required in at least one of the following: Tableau, Looker, microstrategy and SSRS (preferred)
