Telepath (link: telepath.com) is a new social network focused on conversation — a space where people can make friends who share their interests.

The early internet was a really good place to do this, but the incumbent social networks don’t serve this purpose anymore. They promote unkindness by rewarding conflict and hostility, distribute disinformation rapidly, and algorithmically promote polarization. The only way to solve this problem is to make something better.

Telepath is founded by a team that brings together decades of experience building social products. This isn’t another boring SaaS startup — we’re making a consumer internet product that people really love. Responsibilities

• Design and build Telepath for Android from the ground up
• Play a key role in building a world-class Android app and Android engineering team
• Communicate proactively with other engineers to ensure consistency and integration between our backend services, the existing iOS client, and the new Android client
• Make effective engineering design decisions oriented towards long-term maintainability, scalability, and reliability
• Play an active role in product and strategy discussions as part of a small team with a shared vision for a new kind of social network
• Collaborate well with others both in engineering and across the company

Requirements

• Strong software engineering fundamentals
• Demonstrated experience building and shipping complex Android apps
• Well-founded views on how an Android app should be designed and structured to enable the most effective product development and coordination with other clients
• Ability to internalize overarching product goals and apply them to local decisions in less-strictly-specified areas of product implementation
