Founded in 2013, Thistle is an early stage food-tech startup empowering our customers to get and stay healthy. We deliver delicious, organic, healthy, plant-forward meals, cold-pressed juices and snacks to customers in California who want to put their nutrition on auto-pilot.

This small team environment means everyone works on a little of everything and you'll never be pigeonholed into one technology or area of the codebase. Engineers have a lot of say into where the product is going and plenty of opportunities to learn new technologies.

Engineering at Thistle
Our eng team operates on two week cycles. Each cycle begins with a meeting to discuss time estimates for features. Engineers typically work with a designer and any other interested parties (PMs, Ops Managers, etc.) to spec a feature, then work on the feature individually. We use Pull Requests on GitHub to conduct code reviews. All engineers are also empowered to push code to production, which we do multiple times a day. Culturally, we have a flat organization and very flexible team environment. Our current eng team includes 4 people in SF and 2 people who work remotely for us.
Some interesting technical challenges we're dealing with include integrating our vertical operations teams to reduce waste and inefficiency with an attractive & intuitive as possible customer interface, both via a web and react native app. We're also refactoring parts of the code base that are not scalable or sufficiently future-proof as we grow.
You would help architect and iterate on complex technical systems that power nearly all aspects of the business to help us grow and scale, such as partnering with cross-functional teams to design and implement full-stack solutions to delivery and logistics challenges.
