TLDR
Our app delivers fun, 5-minute audio summaries of the best books on business, psychology, and more

Why join us?
75 million adults in the US didn't read even part of a book last year. We are re-inventing how the world discovers books and making it snackable and entertaining. We believe this is a billion dollar opportunity in the $26bn annual market for books.
We hire award-winning comedians to summarize books like 'The Magic of Thinking Big', 'Shoe Dog', 'The 80-20 Principle', 'The Alchemist', and more.
Comedians are brilliant at taking complex ideas and condensing them into memorable messages. Early user feedback is been very strong.
We recently brought the founders of Calm.com (50 million users) on board as investors.
Engineering at TLDR
You will be completely driving the engineering efforts. It's up to you to decide what this process should be alongside the CEO / Cofounder. Let's both move fast and set the foundation for building an app that can eventually support 100 million users.
We are excited for someone to come aboard who has a vision for how great mobile products and engineering cultures can be built.
There will be budget to hire additional engineers within 3-6 months.
Our app is designed to be brilliantly simple, fast, and fun to use.
Imagine the simplicity and delight of Calm or Headspace. We are building a comparable app. There is a lot behind the scenes that creates that incredible user experience.
You will be taking the current MVP to launch. This was built by an agency in React Native and Firebase and we are testing it on iOS. There are issues with streaming the audio and download times (over 1 minute). The engineer on the project was junior and ran into other challenges as well.
The MVP is extremely simple: 1) User creates an account. 2) User opens the app and there is a new audio book summary to play. 3) User gets a push notification each day linking to the featured daily audio.
The aim is to build the daily habit of opening the app each day.
The MVP can be seen at www.hellotldr.com/mvp.
After the MVP is live, we will be getting user feedback to drive V1 of the app.
Likely features will include: 1) Option to give feedback post summary 2) Profile page (with count of books
read
, list of books liked, etc) 3) Library to see all books 4) Sharing features after hearing the audio to drive growth 5) Subscription functionalityThe vision for the app is to be best in class on design, performance, conversion, retention, and monetization.
MVP and V1 will be on iOS. We will launch app on Android and Web too.
