Engineering team and processes

Our team believes strongly that agility is the key behind delivering successful features to market quickly and with high quality. Each team takes what they need from Agile techniques to create a process that evolves with the team. We don't believe in doggedly sticking to a single proscribed process, but rather iterating for the betterment of the team by selecting processes from multiple methodologies that help the team be agile.

We organize ourselves into horizontal platforms which are skill based as well as working groups (think scrum team) that have representatives from each of our platforms, enabling them to deliver features from data intake through to our web interface. Additionally, each working group has a dedicated Product Manager that works with our engineers on a daily basis to help us deliver high quality value to our end users.

Working groups currently operate on a two week cycle that start on Tuesdays and end on Mondays. Horizontal platform teams meet bi-weekly to talk through larger platform architecture, concerns, and best practices. Our current platforms are Front End, Back End, Data, Data Science, and DevOps. We use JIRA, Confluence, and Coda for organization. Github is our source control provider and we currently host our service on AWS utilizing many products in their stack

Technical Challenges

Our most interesting challenges revolve around the normalization and classification of large data sets from diverse sources. The lack of uniformity in the data along with the non-normal frequencies force our team to think creatively about how best to humanize the insights for a growing customer base.

Projects you might work on
  • Working on the data platform you would have the opportunity to integrate with multiple 3rd party APIs, build a data pipeline capable of aggregating, normalizing, and classifying large data sets, and making data available for down-stream systems that include our API, UI, and ML models.

  • As an engineer working on the core application, you would have the opportunity to build the primary tool that 1000s of brands use to analyze their business and uncover the actions needed to fuel growth. A major part of this project is humanizing the complexities of ecommerce and using data and insights to tell stories and drive action.

  • Design, build, and deploy our software stack in AWS for multiple environments and help us move closer to true CI/CD.
