Trainual
We're a SaaS platform that enables small and medium sized businesses to build and digitize their playbooks. Most things in life come with a manual, and we think businesses should be no different! Our platform is the one, clear place for businesses to build their source of truth for everything they do.

Why join us?
In 2019 we grew 450% year over year, in 2020 so far we have grown 110% year over year (through a pandemic! Since going remote our team has grown by 14 people and we're only going up from here)
We have a 99% customer retention!
When we went to raise a seed round, there was so much interest that without even needing to go out pitching Trainual to VC and investment groups, we ended up raising a $7M Series A in a round lead by MATH Venture Partners and 4490 Ventures.
Engineering at Trainual
We structure our Engineering & Product team using the Squad model, made popular by Spotify. You can read more about this here: https://www.atlassian.com/agile/agile-at-scale/spotify
Basically we have 3 different squads, which includes 1 Project Manager, 1 Designer and 3-5 Engineers. One of the Engineers within the squad is designated as the tech lead, who is responsible for the the technical planning and implementation of all initiatives from the technical perspective.
Each squad operates on two-week cycles, which we call sprints. Before we start a sprint, we will run a grooming session which involves everyone from the squad, and additionally we have a grooming intake session afterwards which includes only engineers. We use Jira to create and track tickets through-out the development lifecycle and use Pull Requests on Github to conduct code reviews. All Engineers conduct peer reviews of PR’s, but the tech lead from each squad is ultimately responsible for code merged from members of their squad. We typically release to production at the end of each sprint and often a few times throughout the sprint.
Our platform allows small and medium sized companies to create a playbook for their business, and a big piece of that is documenting of their processes, policies, and processes.
One of the biggest challenges that we face currently is that not everyone is great or even good at documenting. This is often seen as homework or in general not a priority unless they are actively hiring or changing their processes. The challenge here is to create technology that can document their processes for them . Essentially take what is in their brain and turn it into Trainual content that can be easily searched, assigned, and referenced by the members of their team.
Then, there is the challenge of adapting our product to allow for the sheer number of users that will be using it as we grow. That means making sure that while we are tackling new ways to enable our platform to build content for our customers, we are also working to make sure it can support the growth that those new features will bring.
You will get to work on modifying our current WYSIWYG text editor to allow for collaboration and commenting with a similar experience to Google Docs but with more flexibility.
As a platform that will be used as the playbook for their business, we will need to integrate with many other HR and communication platforms. For that, you will get to work on custom integrations with many other services over the next 12 months.
As a part of our engineering team, you will be exploring implementing micro-services to handle our heavy processes and AI initiatives.
