Trala is a technology powered music education company. Our mission is to make world-class music education accessible to every single person on Earth. Right now, private music lessons are available only to the rich and urban. Imagine instead a world where all 4 billion people who will pick up an instrument in the next 20 years could get world-class lessons. Imagine how much more music and joy there would be in the world. That is the future we’re obsessed with realizing.
Why join us?
You’ll make an immediate impact on the team with a high degree of creative freedom.
We raised a $3.5M seed round. The round was led by Jeff Weiner, former CEO of LinkedIn. Our other investors include executives and founders of companies such as Duolingo, Figma, and Lattice.
Trala deeply impacts peoples’ lives all across the world. These are dreams you’ll be fulfilling. Not “leveraged data monetization” or whatever value Facebook claims to provide these days.
Engineering at tralaapp.com
We work inside of agile development processes. Our product manager works with designers and engineers to make sure work is clearly defined ahead of our two-week sprints and runs our retrospectives.
We believe retrospectives are the most important part of the agile process as they are what allows us to meaningfully improve each iteration. We don't just improve our product iteratively, we also improve our process iteratively.
In addition, all of our engineers participate in bi-weekly book clubs.

Learning and growth are our mantras. Join us for the opportunity to work on bigger, more interesting, and more impactful projects than anywhere else.
Trala prioritizes diversity, inclusion, and righting economic and social wrongs. We strive to make our corner of the world a better place. We don't hide from societal issues in the workplace — we discuss them openly.
Concretely, we: - track our top-of-funnel hiring metrics to ensure diversity in our hiring - show case music and artists from all walks of life - hold listening lunches to discuss difficult intersectional issues
The most important part of a welcoming, inclusive company culture is the team itself. Not cringe-inducing events or presentations. Our team itself is from all walks of life and has experiences being a: D1 athlete, professional musician, semiprofessional poker player, comic book writer, and much more!
That being said, during onboarding, we make sure new hires meet every member of the team and gets matched with an onboarding buddy. We also do weekly coffee chats so everyone meets and connects at a human level regularly.
Mentorship is a powerful and important part of anybody's career but especially for underrepresented minorities. We will facilitate mentor matching with fellow UMs. Our network is vast due to the strength in our investors so we're confident we can find a good match for anyone.
As part of our commitment to an inclusive workplace, we are happy to offer prospective engineers the chance to connect with our engineering employees who come from underrepresented backgrounds. It’s a way to get a better sense of our team and what it might be like to work with us.
If you’re interested in connecting with our team, be sure to bring this up during one of our introductory calls!
