TrialSpark is a technology company that accelerates clinical trial timelines by running full, end-to-end clinical trials through its network of technology-enabled trial sites. TrialSpark uses software to make the entire lifecycle of clinical trials more efficient and patient-friendly, transforming the way new medical treatments are brought to market today.

Engineering at TrialSpark

Engineering team and processes

We're a group of tight-knit, smart, and kind engineers. We work fast at a high level of quality, so expect ownership and involvement at all steps in the planning, design, and development processes. Collaboration and transparency are very important to us, so we're often at the decision-making table with product and design, and regularly interact directly with users. We empower Squads to define the most productive process for themselves, but generally work in biweekly sprints or kanban. We deliver multiple PRs to prod every day via our CI pipeline, are fully dockerized for local development, and are committed to quality through design review, code review, and automated testing.

Technical Challenges

We're building a clinical data platform to standardize (and ultimately automate) entire clinical trials, generate better data on treatment efficacy for diverse patient populations, and ultimately bring new treatments to patients faster and more efficiently. We're making sense of complex, low-quality health data (e.g. Electronic Health Records and Insurance Claims) and protocol data (e.g. eligibility criteria) to better match patients to the trials that will provide them the best care. As we reimagine the clinical trial, we're unlocking entirely new modalities like adaptive trials that allow running multiple tests in parallel without adding risk or significant cost.

  • Patient eligibility engine - to structure patient data and route them to the best trial for them.

  • Clinical data platform - seamless data capture (dynamic form library) all the way down to ETL and data pipelines for instant trial data analysis.
