Role Description

About the Team:

Truecar is the industry leading online digital automotive marketplace for new and used vehicles and is looking for a talented site reliability engineer to join our team. Cloud-native infrastructure plays a critical role in our continued success, and infrastructure engineers work at all levels of the organization to ensure that we are able to deliver the highest degree of reliability and performance for our customers.

Candidates for this role can expect to be involved with supporting our existing business applications in the cloud, being part of smaller teams that research and evaluate new tools and technologies, and leading the adoption of new technologies or best practices in order to continually improve the state of our cloud-based infrastructure. This role will be a good fit for anyone who has a passion for infrastructure engineering and continuous improvement.

What you’ll need:

  • Evidence of self-learning and a commitment to personal development
  • Solid understanding of Linux systems and networking fundamentals
  • Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash, Powershell, etc)
  • Familiarity with at least one object-oriented programming language (Ruby, Python, etc)
  • Experience working on a CI/CD pipeline
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting frameworks such as Datadog, NewRelic, or Prometheus
  • Two or more years developing on a cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP, or OpenStack)
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation with other engineers and developers
  • Excellent communication skills, written and spoken
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, or equivalent experience

Nice to have:

2+ years of experience as an engineer participating in a Software Development Life Cycle

Experience with:

  • One or more of Amazon RDS, Redis, Elastic MapReduce (EMR), Kinesis, DynamoDB, Redshift
  • Configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or Salt
  • Docker tooling and ecosystem including orchestration tools such as ECS or Kubernetes
  • Hadoop ecosystem
  • Elastic/ELK stack
