Role Description

About the team:

The Site Reliability Engineering team is a technologically diverse group working on ambitious projects that help define, build, deploy, and optimize applications running on our cloud infrastructure. If you enjoy solving hard problems with automated and self-service solutions, this may be the team for you!

About the role:

  • Work alongside internal teams to create and deliver technical strategy around the principles of reliability and performance
  • Design and implement solutions for key pieces of infrastructure for deployment, monitoring, alerting, data storage, and security
  • Evaluate new tools and technologies based on feature requirements, cost effectiveness, and reliability
  • Continually improve the state of our shared infrastructure
  • Revisit existing applications and infrastructure with a fresh perspective to suggest improvements and optimizations
  • Build working relationships at all levels across the organization to ensure cloud adoption
  • Define best practices with excellent written documentation
  • Participate in on-call rotation with other engineers and developers

What you need:

  • 3+ years of engineering experience in a cloud production environment (AWS preferred, but Google and Azure are also of interest)
  • Proficiency with at least one programming language (Ruby, Python, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of Linux systems and networking fundamentals
  • Clear commitment to the cloud
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Evidence of self-learning and a commitment to personal development is essential
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, or equivalent experience

Nice to have:

  • 2+ years of experience as a software developer with an MVC web framework such as Rails or Django
  • Experience with one or more of Amazon RDS, Redis, Elastic MapReduce (EMR), Kinesis, DynamoDB, Redshift
  • Experience with one or configuration management tools such as Ansible, Salt, Chef, Puppet or Terraform
  • Experience with Docker tooling and ecosystem
  • Knowledge of the Elastic/ELK stack
