Applied ML at the Edge. We build wearable hardware and software to help people serving at our nation's frontlines.
Why join us?
We are mission-driven and are passionate about what we do. For example, our company had an Ethics Policy before we even built our website.
We are winning. We already have 4 customers that are perfectly aligned with our long-term vision for our products.
Our CTO is incredible. Matt Amacker has over 100 patents, led rapid prototyping for Google, was the Head of AI for Toyota, and is a joy to build things with.
Engineering at TurbineOne, Inc.
We are a Seed-stage startup with only 2 engineers today. So the structure and processes will definitely evolve. We have plans to hire 6 engineers in the next six months: 2 Roboticists, 2 ML engineers that are comfortable with applied projects for video/visual perception, and 2 full-stack engineers that are comfortable with an embedded web stack (e.g. Docker, user interfaces, pulling simple info from databases).
We are building a comprehensive Perception Stack. We are going to help first-responders to find things. Beyond the object detection/classification/identification challenge, we are also building a semi-supervised learning system so that non-technical people can provide inputs to the ML even when in edge (e.g. disconnected from the cloud internet) environments.
For example, imagine a wearable camera that can find a polar bear walking in the arctic from a very long distance.
Build and deliver a semi-autonomous robot that can find dangerous foreign object debris (e.g. screwdrivers, bolts, etc) on airfields. This particular project is for a military base in Hawaii.
Build and deliver a drone that can find
abnormalitieswhile in flight during a reconnaissance mission.
Working at TurbineOne, Inc.
Mission-focused. Resourceful. Driven.
With a very personal recognition of where we come from. For example, attributes of the co-founders include: - Immigrants - Prior military service - Gender diversity - Parents that balance their personal and professional life - Public servants that volunteer their personal time to work on hard-but-worthwhile issues like Foster Care, Veteran healthcare, and public education.
We live by our company's values.
Nothing yet, but we want to build those muscles together as the company grows beyond its co-founders.
As part of our commitment to an inclusive workplace, we are happy to offer prospective engineers the chance to connect with our engineering employees who come from underrepresented backgrounds. It’s a way to get a better sense of our team and what it might be like to work with us.
If you’re interested in connecting with our team, be sure to bring this up during one of our introductory calls!
