Why join us?
We're solving a fundamental problem that tackles broken incentive structures surrounding financial regulation for combating crime.
We're growing at a fast rate. Since 2020, we've increased our customer count by 800%, and have increased our company size by 300%.
We are backed by top tier VCs such as Google's AI venture arm, and some of the most knowledgable thinkers and operators in the fintech and regulatory space are huge proponents of Unit21.
Engineering at Unit21
We are a team of generalist engineers with an intensive work culture. We live and breathe agile development, and get real-time customer feedback on new deployments from being in the same slack channels as them. We review all major code changes through pull requests and are constantly pushing ourselves to do better. We iterate quickly and deploy to production several times a day.
We're building products that abstract complex concepts and minimize cognitive overhead for our users. This requires careful thought, high creativity, and a deep understanding of data processing at scale. Our stack is React, Python, Terraform, and PostgreSQL, but we don't require prior experience with any of them. We're looking for people with high integrity, low ego, and an insatiable drive to learn.
Develop machine learning models for detecting money-laundering and fraud in critical financial systems, using graph algorithms and data structures to uncover complex criminal schemes that would otherwise be missed.
Build real-time data processing pipelines using Apache Spark or comparable platforms to handle complex logic on web-scale transaction volumes.
Craft visualizations with ReactJS and charting libraries that can help distill complex financial fraud into easy-to-understand diagrams to enable quick decision-making.
Working at Unit21
When engineers pick companies to work at, the most important but also most frequently overlooked aspect is mission alignment. Unit21's mission is to suppress organized crime by combating money laundering on financial platforms. This materializes today as anti-money laundering operations software used by teams of risk analysts across a variety of companies.
As part of our commitment to an inclusive workplace, we are happy to offer prospective engineers the chance to connect with our engineering employees who come from underrepresented backgrounds. It’s a way to get a better sense of our team and what it might be like to work with us.
If you’re interested in connecting with our team, be sure to bring this up during one of our introductory calls!
