We provide a platform for teams to reach out to participants to coordinate all types of research. Researchers are able to recruit from our panel of participants or provide their own users to reach out to.
Why join us?
We are a fully remote team, and always have been. We prioritize enabling people to work how they work best.
Last year our revenue grew 140%.
Engineering at User Interviews
We take inspiration from Basecamp's shape up methodology. We work in 6 week cycles where a squad is given a shaped effort and 6 weeks. Our Pods are organized with a PM, Designer, and Tech Lead working with two squads of two engineers (so 7 people in total). The PM and TL work together to shape upcoming efforts and the PD and squad handle implementation from the ground up. We have a bot which runs our daily standup in Slack and use Github issues. After every 6 week cycle the squads are given two weeks to work through tech debt, bug fixes, and other non feature tasks which have been bugging them or the team.
A huge task for our team is notifying the right people for the right projects fast. This requires that we have a number of different data sets that are both structured and unstructured to boost the chance that a participant fits what a researcher would need. We're looking into a number of tools and practices to help us speed this up and improve our matching logic.
We recently redesigned our whole project builder experience with an eye towards flexibility as well as using our home grown React design system. A big part of this was moving components into our separate design system and ensuring they could be applied across the application easily in new efforts.
We are in the middle of completely changing how teams onboard into our platform to enable enterprise clients to have more tools at their disposal to manage their teams.
We are working on making it so our internal API can be leveraged by our researchers. We're hoping this will enable them to keep our systems in sync with their data providers as well as comply with necessary privacy regulations.
Working at User Interviews
We're pretty weird and very meta. We have a huge list of custom emojis from party gritty to nailcare. We're fully remote so our Slack is really active with a lot of non-work related channels.
We're constantly reviewing the tools and avenues we use to recruit talent in an effort to reach improve the diversity of our team and making sure we are being inclusive.
We prioritize getting people into one on one meetings with people from across the organization as well as regularly scheduled purely social meetings with groups which are randomly generated. We have set up a DEI committee in our organization to review our hiring and business practices to make recommendations for where we could be doing more to be more inclusive.
As part of our commitment to an inclusive workplace, we are happy to offer prospective engineers the chance to connect with our engineering employees who come from underrepresented backgrounds. It’s a way to get a better sense of our team and what it might be like to work with us.
If you’re interested in connecting with our team, be sure to bring this up during one of our introductory calls!
