Engineering at Vitally.io
Our platform is structured to help customers tackle 4 areas. Each area presents its own challenges:
- Data unification - we process data in real time from over a dozen integrations like Segment, Stripe, Salesforce, Gmail, and others. This means we must receive and process ~100M datapoints every day in near real time so that our customers experience no lag.
- Data enrichment - with your data in one place, we allow our customers to define opinionated, enriched metrics on top of it (e.g. health scores, success metrics, etc). Similar to #1, given the wealth of data we process, enriching this data in real time is an ongoing challenge.
- Automated processes - we allow customers to build automated workflows on top of their unified + enriched customer dataset in Vitally. Example processes might include assigning owners to customers, creating tasks, sending emails, pinging webhooks, and more. These processes must automatically fire as data changes, and we must provide our customers insight into which processes are running and what steps are next.
- Robust reporting & analytics - finally, we allows customers to analyze their unified + enriched data set in Vitally. Customers can build custom dashboards and reports in Vitally to ensure their customer base remains healthy and their team remains proactive.
Data pipeline & processing - building out our processing pipeline to continue to process data in real time as volume increases and our customer base grows.
Integration marketplace - rebuilding our integration framework to allow other engineers to more easily build out new integrations and (potentially) allow partners to build out their own integrations.
Automated workflow builder - rebuilding our automation capabilities to allow users to create more complex workflows and better analyze the performance and impact of their current workflows on their customers.
