Role Description

Are you a seasoned Swift developer, but you’ve always been curious about Kotlin? Have you been looking for an excuse to use Firebase at work? Maybe you secretly think Material Design is actually not so bad?

You're in luck, because Volley is seeking a product-minded Swift engineer who is also interested in expanding their skills to Android. You will be responsible for building a fully native UI layer on each platform, plus a shared data layer, and we’ll even throw in some voice controls and a dynamic content-delivery system for good measure!

Things you may have built before:

  • Native iOS or Android apps
  • Something with Kotlin Multiplatform
  • Mobile Games
  • Cool Open-Source Frameworks
  • Alexa Skills

Things you should be passionate about:

  • Programming Languages
  • New Tools & Technology
  • Architecture
  • Design

If you’re looking to hit File -> New Project on your current codebase, and you're ready to own a unified mobile architecture, all while exploring brand new modes of UX for mobile games, drop us a line!

About Volley

Volley is a small collaborative team based in San Francisco. In addition to creating chart-topping experiences on Amazon Alexa and Google Home, we engage in regular Smash Bros tournaments, the occasional karaoke session, and are very accomplished practitioners of Roryography.

About Volley

Volley develops voice-controlled games and lifestyle apps for Amazon Alexa and Google Home.

We've created several of the top games for smart speakers, including: — Song Quiz - a name-that-tune music trivia game (and the #1 game on Alexa and Google) — Yes Sire - a choose-your-own-adventure medieval RPG — Popcorn Tycoon - the first ever audio-only idle game

We've also created several of the top lifestyle apps for smart speakers, including: — Volley FM - your own personalized, interactive morning radio station — Bedtime Stories - an app to help you fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer with classic fairy tales, nature stories, poems, and more

Volley just closed its Series A funding round and is a graduate of Y Combinator.

We believe that voice-controlled entertainment will expand from smart speakers to phones, TVs, and cars, and we aim to be the leading entertainment company on all voice-controlled devices.

Company Culture

We are looking for smart, eager people with an enthusiastic attitude. We care more about having a learning mindset than a specific skillset, and more about shipping quickly than architectural perfection. We work hard but don't take ourselves too seriously.
