WayBetter is the first app to help people tackle the challenges of health and wellness through behavioral science and gamification.
Why join us?
Our founder has built and sold 2 previous companies - one of them to Yahoo! We are financially stable and led by a seasoned leadership team from companies like Groupon and Yahoo!.
Our engineers have incredible work/life balance.
We're writing code that is helping people change their lives for the better.
Engineering at Way Better
Our engineering team operates on two-week cycles. Each cycle begins with a meeting to align on priorities and ends with a demo/retrospective meeting where each engineer can show off the work they've completed. Engineers typically work within cross-functional squads to ideate and spec features, then work on the feature individually or in pairs. We use Pull Requests on GitHub to conduct code reviews and all PRs trigger static analysis and automated testing on CircleCI. We manually release code multiple times per week.
We'd like to build a recommendation engine that connects our users with products of ours that will be most impactful to them on their health journey. We're building unique ways for people to connect with other people who have similar health and wellness struggles or goals.
You would determine how to show our customers the most relevant and inspiring posts from our 10k+ daily pieces of user-generated content.
You would help develop processes and tools to enable our development team to release to production multiple times per day.
You would be building an in-app tutorial to show new users around our mobile apps.
Working at Way Better
Our fully remote team describes us as fun, collaborative, supportive, encouraging, and experimental. We value an attitude of full ownership and resourcefulness of our work, driven by company and team OKRs. As a health and wellness app, we practice what we preach, and encourage a strong work/life balance.
A grassroots effort founded the Equality Task Force to focus on inclusion and diversity both for the team and the brand. As a result of those efforts, we began to prioritize and maintain diversity in our coach partnerships, our imagery, address accessibility opportunities, advise on hiring efforts & company culture, and partner with the Senior Leadership Team to define our company values.
As part of our commitment to an inclusive workplace, we are happy to offer prospective engineers the chance to connect with our engineering employees who come from underrepresented backgrounds. It’s a way to get a better sense of our team and what it might be like to work with us.
If you’re interested in connecting with our team, be sure to bring this up during one of our introductory calls!
Unlimited PTO and encourage at least 2 weeks
We plan semi-annual company retreats (when safe). This year we are heading to a wellness retreat destination outside of Atlanta for hiking, horseback riding, goat yoga, and a bunch of time to hang out and get to know each other
We don't have hard rules around this but most of our engineers are available noon - 5 EDT and don't work more than 8 hours.
Heavily subsidize health insurance for team members and their dependents ranging from traditional PPO to high deductible HSA plans. We offer dental and vision coverage as well.
We offer a 401k and will be matching in 2022.
Work from Home
We are a fully remote company
We offer 6 weeks paid parental leave and 6 weeks unpaid.
Our teams do regular, virtual fun activities: hackathons, virtual happy hours, virtual scavenger hunts. As it is deemed safe, team members who live near each other get together for drinks, coffee, dinner etc...
Dedicated Human Resources team
