The work we do is interesting and challenging. While most client applications are entirely server driven and not very interactive, end to end encrypted chat requires a high level of processing and business logic on both the client and server. There are a ton of features to implement, and who doesn't love coding something they also will use every day to get their job done?
Engineering at Wickr
The engineering team is structured into streams
where each stream contains the skill sets necessary to deliver functionality across our various components. Typically a stream will consist of an iOS, Android, Desktop, Server, Designer and Product resource. This is to help us keep everything aligned in terms of the business logic and look and feel of a feature across the various clients we offer. We use the scrum process to help us deliver on a 2 week cadence. We believe strongly in engineers having input in the entire product development cycle from grooming to delivery to customers.
We are building next generation technologies for end to end encrypted messaging and video conferencing. Due to the nature of our application, a lot of business logic around how messaging and calling are conducted is embedded into the native client applications. Every day brings up new challenges around implementing world class features while maintaining a high level of performance and stability, all while delivering a product you can believe in
(Server Team) Working on a custom web socket server capable of delivering messages and message notifications to millions of daily active users
(iOS / Android / Desktop clients) Implement a message processing pipeline for our end to end encrypted messaging protocol that manages keys, conversation state, and message storage while communicating updates to UI components using MVVM architecture
(iOS / Android / Desktop clients) Upgrade our video conferencing UI to improve user experience by adding features that support hundreds of users in a single meeting
(iOS / Android / Desktop clients) Implement native UI for messaging features such as emoji reactions, file sharing, location sharing, replies and more
(SDK / Protocol Team) Re-architect core code from native clients into an SDK that can be used for custom integrations for IoT devices.
