Role Description

Zeus - Flawless Stays.

Founded in November 2015 and based in San Francisco, California, Zeus is shaking up the $18b corporate housing industry through its unique strategy of leasing unfurnished, privately-owned homes and converting them into expertly appointed, full-service corporate housing units for today’s global professional. We're passionate about delivering world-class customer service and becoming the most trusted provider of corporate housing on Earth. With 1000+ homes spanning the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Seattle (more cities coming soon), we are well on our way to realizing our vision. Zeus has raised $24M in financing from Initialized Capital, Google Ventures, Bowery Capital, and Floodgate. The Zeus founders have all had previous exits and have worked in real estate and technology for over 10 years.

Zeus Engineering

Exceptional software is integral to our vision for changing housing.  For external customers, we care deeply about delivering amazing user experiences. Housing can be a messy business, but our customers love our intuitive and easy-to-use software. We want to wow them and keep them coming back.

For internal customers, we write custom software to run every part of our operations: home selection, pricing, logistics, customer acquisition, and personalized customer service. As we scale from hundreds to thousands of homes, automation, data, and AI will enable our team to move faster and smarter than the competition.

The Role

You will work closely with a product manager and the head of a business department to achieve that department's goals. Your projects can range from improving tenant booking conversion to rearchitecting an internal workflow to launching a growth hack. Each department has a handful of engineers so you will be taking ownership of your projects and making a big impact on the business.

As a backend engineer, you will focus on building APIs for front-end engineers to consume. You'll be working in Ruby on Rails, designing data models, and building on top of our Postgresql DB. It would be a bonus if you have DevOps experience and can implement things like containers, staging environments, and continuous deployment.

About Zeus

Zeus partners with homeowners to transform their homes into desirable destinations for business travelers. We design, furnish, and outfit the home up to our business-class standards. We keep the property in tip-top shape and provide high-quality corporate residents while the homeowner sits back and collects a rent check.

Our typical resident works at a small business and is looking for a quality home to stay in for 3 months. They do not want to deal with the hassle and unpredictability of a peer-to-peer marketplace. With Zeus, they can book a beautiful home online quickly and know our customer service team will be there if they need them. Our homes are designed to be somewhere you want to live for a long time.

Premium housing for business travelers is just the start for Zeus. Our mission is to be the most trusted housing company in the world. We want to transform what it’s like to find and live in a home. It should take a few minutes to find a house, not a few weeks. You should get immediate responses and fixes to your home issues. Everything with your house should be done with beautiful and easy-to-use software.

We firmly believe that “software is eating the world” and housing will be no exception. We write custom software to run every part of our operations: home selection, pricing, logistics, customer acquisition, and personalized customer service. As we scale from hundreds to thousands of homes, automation, data, and AI will enable our team to move faster and smarter than the competition.

Company Culture

Since the company was founded 3 years ago, we've only had 1 person leave the company voluntarily. We put a lot of thought and care into maintaining that culture and here are some of our values:

1) Fast-paced environment - we work in small teams that are constantly pushing new features and iterating. This allows us to learn and improve at high speed.

2) Collaboration - we are unique in that we have a heavy operations aspect to our company. This requires working with many types of people from operations, product, design and engineering.

3) Honesty - we strive for open and transparent communication within our team and with our customers. Being vulnerable is the first step toward building trusting and productive relationships.
