Zoox is developing a fully robotic level-4 vehicle capable of autonomous driving in dense urban environments. By owning the entire stack, including design, hardware, sensors, software, cloud infrastructure, base operations, and user experience, Zoox has a unique ability to pioneer the future of mobility. Not reliant on any third-party solutions for perception and artificial intelligence, Zoox is creating its own proprietary algorithms for mapping, localization, calibration, sensor fusion, motion planning, vehicle control, object segmentation and tracking, classification, tele-operation, simulation, and validation.

Software is core to this mission, but unlike many other technology companies in this space we are also designing and building the vehicles ourselves. So you will find yourself working side by side with Engineers from many disciplines - Electrical, Mechanical, Vehicle, Aerospace (to name a few) and also a deep bench of other functions like Public Policy, HMI and Design.
Our Software Engineering organization has teams organized by domain and sometimes function. We work closely with TPMs, Product Managers and also Vehicle Operators. We use modern software processes - Slack, JIRA, code reviews, and lightweight sprint planning.

There are some seriously complex technical challenges involved. Not just in Robotics and AI, but the massive set of surrounding infrastructure and tools to enable, integrate, test and validate our robotic fleet development at scale and at speed.
We are constantly finding ourselves dealing with technical challenges for which there is no standard playbook. Expect to learn fast, and have no choice but to innovate.
Build web application front-ends on top of core internal tools & infrastructure at Zoox - such as Robot Data Pipeline, Zoox Road Network, Compute Infrastructure and Machine Learning Infrastructure. These front-ends are central to the development of autonomous driving and transportation-as-a-service, provide tremendous leverage for Zoox, and require dedicated engineering support.
The Infrastructure team is responsible for solving challenging distributed systems problems and scaling state of the art algorithms. You will be working with cutting edge hardware and pushing systems to their limits. Zoox is a robotics company, and our ethos of automation extends throughout the infrastructure components we build.
The Rider Experience team will be responsible for building out the architecture, software & team that is responsible for coordinating and implementing the HMI and UI across the entire Rider journey. This spans Android / iOS applications, in-vehicle infotainment, and also interfacing with hardware peripherals and back-ends.
The Vehicle Software team is responsible for bringing together the computer science world with the automotive world to create an amazing vehicle. As a firmware engineer, you should be passionate about developing production-quality code and designing a product that meets the high safety requirements needed for autonomous driving.
Decision making and motion planning are the primary responsibilities of mobile robots. Taking input from a variety of perception and localization systems, the planner's job is to figure out where the robot is going and how to get there safely. You should be passionate about developing planning architectures and working on motion planning algorithms for dynamic environments.
The Simulation team is building the world's most advanced simulation engine and framework for autonomous vehicle technology. As a simulation engineer, you will collaborate closely with several other engineering teams on a variety of domains including motion planning, mapping and localization, sensor technology, computer vision, and machine learning. You will work on Zoox's advanced simulation framework developing key features including but not limited to accurate LIDAR and radar simulation, high-fidelity graphics rendering, content creation tools for realistic virtual cities, and scenario creation and execution pipelines for scalable and verifiable vehicle testing.
