What do we do?

Mixpanel is an advanced analytics service that helps improve applications by tracking how users interact & engage with them. Mixpanel’s mission is to help the world learn from their data.

Technical challenges

On a monthly basis, we're processing about 70 billion data points. Our system has over 200,000 updates per second and our query system processes 500 GB a second. To process and house this data in the fastest/most efficient way, we've built our own custom data store from the ground up and are actively expanding on it. This has been primarily written in Go and C++.

Why join us?

1) We're the leading product analytics company in the world.

2) We've accomplished a lot with a relatively small engineering team and now we're growing the team quickly. This creates a lot of career opportunities for you.

3) The work done by engineers has a broad impact as it drives the decisions made my companies around the world.

4) We have no QA or Ops teams. Every engineer at Mixpanel owns, designs and takes responsibility for what they build. You won't have a Site Reliability team stopping you from deploying your code, which gives you the chance to learn a lot.

5) We believe heavily in open source and all our client libraries are open sourced.

6) We have an accomplished engineering team e.g. Dmitry Orlov was a significant contributor to the Spanner team at Google (the largest database in the world: https://www.wired.com/2012/11/google-spanner-time/) and Arya Asemanfar joined us from Twitter, where he was one of 2 principal engineers out of 1500.
